Want to stabilize your mood, encourage bone health, lower your blood pressure  and/or decrease the likelihood of developing cancer, diabetes, and some auto immune diseases all while having fun?

Vitamin D does all that! How do you get it?

Get out in the sunshine! This is the best and most effective way to obtain your Vitamin D. Take a walk, play tennis, ride a bike, play miniature golf, read a book. It doesn’t matter what you do, just expose as much of your skin as you can WITHOUT sunscreen for 5 to 20 minutes on every day that’s 50 degrees Fahrenheit or warmer. The darker your skin, the more time you need to spend in the sun. After you collect your Vitamin D, then go ahead and apply a safe sunscreen, if necessary, to stay out of doors. (More about safe sunscreen next newsletter.)

Eat foods that contain Vitamin D. Butter and cream from pastured cows or goats, egg yolks from free range chickens, and cod liver oil are all good food sources of Vitamin D.

Take a supplement.  On cooler days when you can’t get sun shining on your skin, take a high quality supplement of 1,000 IU of D3.
