What’s the scoop on some of those sayings we’ve heard over and over?
I believe that diet is crucial to the maintenance of health and strive to remain up to date on the latest fads and studies related to nutrition. The statements in the subsections are ones that I’ve heard repeatedly, some of which I believe to be true and others which I believe to be erroneous.
“You are what you eat.”
It’s true. Our bodies use food and drink to grow and provide energy for all their functions. That banana you ate this morning becomes you by 11:00 a.m. What we put in our bodies is the material they have to use. If we put in high quality material—pure water and real food, rather than processed goods, our bodies can transform this matter into the fuel we need and we greatly increase our chances of being healthy.
